Tip 1: House Training

If house training a new pet they will often wet in areas that they have previously. After cleaning up the mess, you need to remove the odour to discourage your pet from repeating the behaviour.

  • On a floor, blot up as much of the stain as possible. Then mop with equal parts white vinegar and warm water. (On a wood or vinyl floor, test a few drops of vinegar in an inconspicuous area to make sure it won’t harm the finish.) Dry with a cloth or paper towel.
  • For carpets, rugs, and upholstery, thoroughly blot the area with a towel or some rags. Test vinegar on an inconspicuous area. Then pour a bit of undiluted white vinegar over the spot. Blot it up with a towel, then reapply the vinegar-let it air-dry. Once the vinegar dries, the spot should be completely deodorised.
  • To remove odour from litter trays, empty the tray and rinse out then pour about 1/2 inch of white vinegar into the tray and stand for 20 minutes. Swish around, rinse with water and then dry.

Tip 2: Blankets & Toys

  • For dog and cat blankets: When you next wash the blanket add 1/2 Cup of white vinegar to the final rinse cycle.
  • For dog and cat toys: Soak toys in DYC Apple Cider Vinegar for 10-15 minutes and then rinse in cold water. Allow to dry naturally.
