Flu Vaccination

FLUAD Quad & Flucelvax Quad

We’re all susceptible to flu and know how important that flu shot is, to keep us doing things we need or love to do.

There are now more advanced influenza vaccines that can offer greater protection to the standard flu vaccines that have been available. Introducing new Flucelvax® Quad for adults and children and FLUAD® Quad, specifically designed for 65 years and over. Both lower the chances of contracting flu or needing medical attention for flu-related complications compared to the standard flu vaccine.

Flucelvax Quad – For people aged 6 months and over
Flucelvax Quad is available in New Zealand for the first time this flu season, for people aged 6 months and over.

Why should I choose Flucelvax Quad?

  • Flucelvax Quad reduces your chances of catching the flu or needing medical attention for flurelated complications compared to the standard flu vaccine.
  • Flucelvax Quad is designed to be an exact match to the flu strains that are circulating this year.
  • Flucelvax Quad has been shown to be up to 19% more effective than standard influenza vaccines at protecting you from the flu.

Fluad Quad – For people aged 65 years old or over
For those 65 years old or over, influenza immunisation is very important, as the risks associated with the illness increase as you age. The risk of hospitalisation, long-term disability, loss of independence and even death are all greater if you get the flu compared to a younger, healthy adult. Compounding these issues, the effectiveness of the flu vaccine decreases as you get older and your immune system becomes weaker.

That’s why FLUAD Quad has been designed to offer greater protection against the flu in people aged 65 years and over compared with standard influenza vaccines.

Benefits of FLUAD Quad vaccine

  • Less chance at contracting the flu compared with the standard vaccine.*
  • Lower risk of needing to see a doctor, ED or be hospitalised with flu related complications compared with the standard vaccine.*^
  • Longer protection against the flu. Antibody levels are higher at 12 months post vaccination compared with the standard vaccine.*
