Age brings wisdom and wrinkles. Knowing what skincare products will best enhance your skin’s vitality without harming your health requires brushing up on
what’s in them.

Many skincare products are often promoted as “natural” coupled with a few ingredients that sound appealing and reassuring such as Aloe Vera or Calendula. Turn over the container however, and you might find a long list of chemicals that don’t sound natural and reassuring at all.

KNOW YOUR INGREDIENTS
Skincare products have a complex job to do and they need preserving, no two ways about it. But understanding the labelling can make shopping for genuinely natural skincare products feel like you need a science degree. The issue goes into the “too hard” basket at the same time as the regular night cream goes into your shopping basket.

That night cream may only be pseudo natural and the problem for us as consumers is that many products are making it onto the shelf without adequate safety evaluations, or even full disclosure of their ingredients and preservatives.

The Environmental Working Group, a global organisation concerned about this issue, commissioned a study into the safety of more than 25,000 personal care products and found that many contained synthetics such as parabens and phenoxyethanol. Their database of ingredients and more than 25,000 products can be found online at www.cosmeticsdatabase.com

SAFE AND MADE IN NEW ZEALAND
Living Nature was one of the first companies in the world to produce skincare without synthetic preservatives. Instead Living Nature focused on New Zealand’s native plants and honeys and how to use these to create truly natural and effective products.

That was over 20 years ago. Today Living Nature boasts one of the most natural, safe and effective ranges of skincare in the world, still focused on ingredients from New Zealand’s native plants. Every product is designed using the EWG Cosmetics Safety Database (Campaign for Safe Cosmetics) and its safety and efficacy tested by a world-class laboratory in Italy.

EFFECTIVE SKINCARE
Just because a product is all natural doesn’t necessarily make it effective. Living Nature works with six scientific organisations researching, developing and testing new products and ingredients from native plants such as Kumerahou and Harekeke, which have been proven to do a great job nourishing and protecting the skin naturally.

Many of the products have won major international awards.

NIGHT-TIME SKINCARE RANGE
Living Nature has a range of six night-time skincare products that have all been
proven to stimulate the skin’s natural anti-aging responses while you sleep.
These are...
  • Nourishing Night Cream
  • Firming Flax Cream
  • Balancing Night Gel
  • Radiance Night Oil
  • Hydrating Gel Mask
  • Ultra Nourishing Mask

All of these, except the Radiance Night Oil, contain Manuka Honey, one of Living Nature’s “hero” ingredients for its ability to moisturise, rejuvenate, hydrate and heal the skin.
