If you suffer from pain you can’t explain in the heel, ankle, knee or lower back, you might want to check your foot alignment.

Poor alignment of the feet not only affects your posture, but can cause aches and pains in other parts of the body.

Around 70% of people suffer from excess pronation, which is when the foot rolls inwards when walking.

It happens because our feet, which were designed to walk barefoot on soft, natural surfaces like soil and sand, take a daily pounding on unnatural, hard and flat surfaces including footwear. This causes the feet to roll over (to gain ground contact) and the arches to flatten.

Like the foundation of a tall building, problems in the feet can have far-reaching effects throughout the body, leading to pain affecting not just the feet, but the heel, knee, lower back and legs.

HAVE YOU CHECKED YOUR FEET?
Most people don’t realise that their feet pronate, or associate the problem with poor posture and other body ailments.
Yet the difference between good and poor foot alignment is obvious once you use a good orthotic. An orthotic is a corrective insole that realigns the foot to a neutral position.

The image above shows how pronated feet can be corrected by simply using an orthotic insole (as shown with the right foot).
