For many people living alone, it helps to know that in a medical emergency help can be a touch of a button away. Now, there’s even more support for those who need it.

Medical alarms enable thousands of New Zealanders with disabilities or health concerns to live independently and safely at home without the worry of getting to a phone to dial 111 if they have an emergency.

And now, thanks to St John, further safeguards can be put in place if you need them.

St John has just extended its range of medical alarms to include the option of an automated daily activity check, for those needing added reassurance and peace of mind. The new feature in this alarm means that help can be provided even in a situation where you can’t push the alarm button to call for help.

A sensor on the alarm base unit will detect if you are up and moving about, in line with your normal morning routine. If there is no activity detected, St John will call you and even a family member if needed, to confirm everything is okay.

ST JOHN STAFF CAN GUIDE YOU
St John is committed to helping New Zealanders live at home safely and independently, and to that end, staff can help you choose the medical alarm that’s best for you or your loved ones.

Many people qualify for funding for a medical alarm through Work and Income (www.workandincome.govt.nz). St John is a Work and Income approved supplier of monitored medical alarms.
