TO KNOW BEFORE USING MAXALT (rizatriptan benzoate) 10 mg wafer: MAXALT
is used for the acute treatment of migraine attacks with or without
aura. MAXALT should not be taken by people who have a hypersensitivity
reaction, uncontrolled hypertension or coronary artery disease, or who
are being treated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) or
propranolol. MAXALT should not be taken by people with basilar or
hemiplegic migraine. Precaution should be taken using MAXALT in people
who do not have a clear diagnosis of migraine, who have cardiovascular
disease, who are on medicines in the same class as MAXALT, on
ergotamine type medicines, or on selective serotonin reuptake
inhibitors (SSRI) or serotonin noradrenalin reuptake inhibitors (SNRI).
Common side effects are: chest pain, dizziness, fatigue and feeling
tired. MAXALT is a fully funded, prescription only medicine, a
prescription charge will apply. Consult your doctor to see if MAXALT is
